Celebrate Spring at SOAR, A Festival of Flight

See birds swoop and soar in flight and meet a few of their land-based friends in this fun new show. More than 20 species demonstrate natural behaviors. Watch African pied crows pick pockets, African collared ravens collecting cash for conservation, and see what's swimming in the pool in front of the stage too. SOAR shows take place at the new Wildlife Amphitheater through Labor Day. Show times are at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, with an additional show at 3:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Have a Big Time at Giants of the Savanna

Zookeepers have been mixing it up on the savanna all winter and introducing various species to the elephants. Every day is different. You may see the elephants in the North Habitat and impalas, ostriches, or even Vern the zebra visiting the South Habitat. Don't miss the daily Predator Encounters. Watch your step – guineafowl may be following our zookeepers as they walk through the area.

Butterflies Jump on a Hump

Take a trek around the camel habitat in ZooNorth. We'll help two adults or four children board these “ships of the desert.” Camel rides are available every day. Be sure to get your photo taken to commemorate this unique experience!

Visit the Bachelor Pad

Meet Juba, 9, and B'wenzi, 8, at the Jake L. Hamon Gorilla Conservation Research Center. The Dallas Zoo is filling a need for homes for male gorillas born in captivity with the bachelor troop. Watch Juba do a “baseball slide” across the ground and see B'wenzi barrel roll and clap with his fingers facing downward.
